Slides for the lecture-performance

digital collage

The artist works with the issues of bodily experience, exclusion and discursive violence. The slides combine montage of various texts and images, forming an imaginary confused narrative of a future lecture-performance that will not take place. The inscriptions include author's text, citations from dance and postcolonial studies, as well as excerpts from explications of the Belarusian National Art Museum. The artist also uses notations of dance and movement, as well as graphic signs from the conceptual schemes. She decontextualizes the cliched language of the official Belarusian art discourse, pointing to the processes of depoliticizing and alienation of the artwork from the viewer and social reality. Her work with text and abstract graphic images demonstrates the problematic relationship of text and image, experience and its representation, art and political.
